Fun Furlough Friday

Next week we will bring back our installment of Fun Furlough Friday. I've cooked up a great treat for those who are being furloughed on Fridays. Not being furloughed but still want to participate. Don't worry I've thought about all you too.

For me the purpose for Fun Furlough Friday is to give you a chance to take a class at no cost to you. You'll learn a new skill, finish a project and perhaps get a head start on your Christmas Gifts.
This upcoming Friday, August 7th from 3-6 we will be offering a Christmas Club Class with a beautiful, looks complex but is remarkably easy scarf. I've tested it, and even had my daughter test it. She's give two thumbs up that this will be a beautiful and easy scarf. Don't worry, you don't have to stay the entire time, you'll get this project under control in less than an hour. Have the time to hang out, and you have a big chance of finishing the project in the 3 hours.
* Since this is a free class we do ask that you purchase all yarn at Knitique.

For those who aren't being furloughed, I'm offering this class on August 25th from 6-8 pm.

I'm only taking 10 people per class, so it is imperative that you sign up in advance. Please call the shop at 916 714 7719. See you all soon!

And who said we can't laugh at ourselves.

Wonderful Washcloths

The monthly installment of our super popular washcloth class will be this Saturday, August 1st from 11-3pm. I've designed a beautiful pattern perfect for the ever popular Classic Elite Allegoro or Lana Knits Hemp for Knitting. Be sure to bring appropriate needles for DK/Sport weight yarn. We just got a shipment of this yarn in so we've got plenty of yarn for this washcloth, we'll be able to hold about 15 knitters. I knit on gauge but prefer to do my washcloths at a much tighter gauge. I'm using a size 4 needle. So, bring what ever suits your fancy. We do ask that all yarn be purchased at Knitique since it is a FREE class.

There have been many people who have asked for a make-up or new a session for washcloths that they have missed in the previous months. As always I've listened to you all. I'll have all the patterns available from the last 7 months.

Please be sure to call and sign up for the class. We were completely full last time, with sitting room only by the end. Call 916 714 7719 to sign up.

A skein of a Thousand of Colors

I'm so excited to let you know the first shipment of the delicious yarn by Punta Del Estes arrived in the store today. It sold hot and heavy, but luckily I had bought so much of each color that there are still sweater quantities of every color in the shop. Feast your eyes on the pictures and you'll see just a few of the colors I ordered. We've got more lines from this company coming in next month. I KNOW you'll LOVE this yarn. It's gorgeous and soft.

The majority of the yarn is a hand-painted version, which is extremely time consuming but incredibly beautiful to look at. There are so many different options to be made with this yarn.

I'll be offering a FREE class for Fun Furlough Friday where we will be using a skein or two of this yarn to make a gorgeous scarf. Buy 3 skeins and you'll be able to create 2 scarves. We will be offering this FREE class on Friday, August 7th from 3-6pm and Tuesday, August 25th 6-8pm. This is a really fun pattern, not to challenging, and honestly, just a beautiful project for this yarn. It's one of those projects where the marriage between the yarn and the pattern work out perfectly. Come into the shop and see our latest creation.

Here are some other projects that would be perfect for this yarn.
Men's Ribbed Pullover

The Top Sweater is called Cherie Amour by Ashley Adams Moncrief, and the bottom sweater is Bubble by Norah Gaughan. Both are a delicious representation of what this yarn is capable of.

Super Easy Breezy 2nd Annual Summer Knitalong!

In the last email, I hinted about the most incredible sweater kit I've seen in a while. I got some live action shots of Nancy. Trying to get her picture is like trying to wrangle a 2 year old into their pajamas.

I've included a bunch of pictures from different angles so you can see how incredible this sweater looks. It's basically 2 rectangles that are magically sewn together to create a beautiful, extremely flattering sweater on just about anybody. It's made out of the beautiful Alpaca from Frog Tree.

I've placed our first orders in, we've got quite a few participants, but there is room for more. I'll be placing my final order next week to make sure the gals at Frog Tree have enough time to get the kits to us as well as time for you to knit the swatch.

We will have our first round of free classes the first week of August. You'll have most of August to knit the rectangles and then we'll have to classes one maybe Late August, early September and the other in September to sew these beauties together. Did I mention they are free. I thought this would be a great opportunity for all you guys and girls out there to work on your seaming. It doesn't get any easier than this.

Come on in see the color cards, and give us a jingle at 916 714 7719 to reserve your kit.

Picture This!

I'm so excited that I heard from Renee Nelson. She's the designer of the gorgeous washcloth we will be using this Saturday for our monthly. I've decided to use Classic Elite Allegoro in 2 contrasting colors. Allegoro is part of Classic Elite's newest line of yarn from the Verde Collection. It is made of 70% Organic Cotton and 30% Linen. It's made in Italy and the beauty is it's machine wash cold, gentle cycle. We've had quite a few people make gorgeous drapey top. Linda is making a stole from Mason Dixon. It's gorgeous.
So come on in, join us for a fun FREE class at the coolest place in town. We'd love to see you! Make sure to call the shop at 916 714 7719 to reserve your spot.

Free Washcloth class this Saturday

Beautiful Ilene Bag by Hannah Ingalls

The monthly installment of our super popular washcloth class will be this Saturday, July 11th from 3-6pm. I've got a wonderful idea for this month's washcloth but am waiting to get permission from the designer to see if we can use her pattern. If not, I've designed a beautiful pattern perfect for the ever popular Ty Dy Worsted Cotton. We just got another shipment of this yarn in. It's been flying off the shelves. People are making the Pleat Neck Tee by Coralie Meslin, and the really popular Ilene bag by Hannah Ingalls with this beautifully dyed yarn. We are so excited as in the Fall they will be offering this in a Worsted Weight Yarn. Don't worry we ordered tons of it and we will get it as soon as it's available.

Pleat Neck Tee by Coralie Meslin

Be sure to bring appropriate needles for worsted weight yarn. We just got a shipment of this yarn in so we've got plenty of yarn for this washcloth, so we'll be able to hold about 20 knitters. I knit on gauge but prefer to do my washcloths at a much tighter gauge. I'm using a size 5 needle. So, bring what ever suits your fancy. We do ask that all yarn be purchased at Knitique since it is a FREE class.
