Save the DATE!

I've been hearing whispers, rumors circulating, people trying to guess what it will be.

Yes, we are definitely having our New Year's Day Sale. I figure we've got to start the year off right. In fact just this week we've received shipments of Noro Kureyon Sock Yarn, French 75 Sock Yarn, and a huge order from Alpaca Yarn Company. We've been selling it like crazy. I'm hoping there will be some left for the Sale.

All the details will be sent by email so if you aren't on our mailing list, be sure to join. I'll be emailing out the details sometime on New Year's Eve.

Remember PJ's are acceptable. Be sure to bring your knitting and stay awhile. We will be going out to lunch afterwards. Last year we had dessert first, so who knows what we'll do this year.

So make sure to pass it on, tell a friend, post it wherever you like. Sales like this only come around twice a year, so start the New Year's off on the right foot and tell a friend.

Did someone mention Classes!

As many, and I mean MANY of you have asked, I've been trying to get the class schedule online. I'm horrible with computer files, and such but I think I've managed to do it. If anyone has any suggestions or help, I'm ALL ears. My gift is definitely in the knitting and not in the computer programing.

So Click on THIS LINK to see our November Classes. We've got such a great line up of classes. If it doesn't work, I apologize and I'll keep working at it. Okay, I just checked it, and HOLY CRAP, I think I did it. Whooo Hoooo!!!

A few rules though:

1. Classes must be prepaid to reserve your spot.
2. All supplies need to be purchased at Knitique. The bonus is you get a 10% discount on all supplies needed for classes.
3. Store credit will be issued if canceled 1 week prior to class.
4. If you miss a class, you can make it up in the following month.
5. Classes fill up fast. We have a maximum of 6 people for most classes to give you the most student/instructor time.
6. You can call in at 916.947.1463 to reserve your spot with a credit card.

Special Knit for a Cause

October is breast cancer awareness month. In honor of this, and in the hopes of making more people aware of early detection we will be having a special Knit for a Cause this Sunday, at Elk Grove Park, at the Elk Grove's Annual Giant Pumpkin and Harvest Festival. Please feel free to bring your US #9 16 inch circulars as well as #9 Double Points and help create a gift of love, a gift of your time, and a gift of warmth to someone going through the rigors of chemotherapy or radiation.

It has been our honor to take part in this special Cause. We've got a great team of regular knitters and crocheters that churn out hats faster than I can say "Bob's my Uncle" We would love for more people to join us, either through knitting, crocheting, or even donating some of your soft warm stash. Since the weather is turning, and it seems like it's going to be a doozy of a winter, the need will be even greater for soft warm hats. Lately, we've been doing more hats for men. Apparently, there is a shortage of hats for manly, man hats. If it touches your heart, we've got a place for you at this table.

When going to the Harvest Festival, we will be right next to the News 10 booth, so we'll be easy to spot. Look for Pink and Green, and wear something pink to help bring awareness to Breast Cancer.

Knit On!!!

Come Nosh and Knit with Us Friday 5-9pm

With the start of the Fall weather, it's time to get out your knitting, and come join us for Knit and Nosh this Friday night from 5-9pm. Bring a dish, drink, or dessert to share, and join our community of knitters. With all the new Fall yarns coming in you are sure to be inspired.

This year knitting is continuing to thrive. Scarves by the dozens are being made. Most have a detailed stitch. Patsy one of our daily knitters, just finished a Basketweave made out of Autumno, a gorgeous self striping wool blend. Quick simple, with just enough patterning to keep you awake. Now she's off making a Scarf from Scarf Style using Plymouth Sinsation. It doesn't get more luxurious then this. Let us help you find a project, perfect for your needs, so you can get a jump start on your Christmas Knitting.

One of my favorite Christmas gifts is a hand knit washcloth and a bar of handmade soap. In honor of this, we've got another FREE class for you to take. You read that right FREE. Come into the shop, pick up a schedule and see how quickly you knit up a half dozen of these babies.

We've been keeping Trip very busy with loads, and loads of New Lines, and New Companies coming in this week. Plus we've brought in a new line of Bamboo needles that go down to a 9inch circular. It definitely takes some getting used to but let me tell you, you can almost eliminate double points with these babies.

I've got just word to say to you.....

Oh yea, you read that right. My order of Yarntini came trotting on in by the DHL man today. Poor Trip, our handsome UPS driver was sad we were cheating on him. You should have seen the stampede. Everyone wanted to open the box.

We've sold a substantial amount already but we definitely have some left. I'll post the colors tomorrow, but just wanted you to know, if you need your Yarntini fix...we might be able to help you.

We'll be open Saturday until 6pm, Sunday 12-4 and we are closed Monday.

Big Ass Bags

Last week I wanted to show you some of the newest bags we brought into the shop. But, by the next day, they were gone. Another shipment later, this morning, Trip delivered them. 1 bag is already sold out. I thought I'd post them quick before they all disappear.

These bags are perfect for knitting, Trader Joes, or taking it to IKEA so you don't have to pay the $.05 for bags. Some of the titles are a littel risque, but oh, so cute.

If you are HOT and FLASHY

You all know How I feel about Pink. This was the first one I grabbed.

Lemonicious

Very vintage looking!

Does this bag make my ASS look big?

Every time I look at this bag it cracks me up.

Be the Big Boss Lady

Perfect for using as a Grocery Bag

Hella Cute Bag

And the Piece de Resistance

For the knitter that has everything.

"I need a half gram of wool and quick! I'm starting to come down...."

Just one of the cute quirky sayings on the side. The bags are fabulously priced at $12.50 and the Tin Bank $8.50. Up next time....the new lines, new yarns, and new vendors are coming in.

Knit for a Cause

In the past few months, ever since the Citizen's did the article on our Chemo Cap Project, I've been moved to tears with the genorosity of both knitter's and crocheter's in our community and beyond. We have had a generous donation of yarns for our project, and I can't even tell you the amount of hats that are coming in. We have the sweetest elderly lady, who knits a minimum of 1 hat, and sometimes 2 hats a day. Every couple of weeks, either her granddaughter or her daughter comes in with the bag of finished hats, and we load her up with more soft, light colored yarns.

This Sunday from 12-4 is our Knit for a Cause. We knit chemo hats, preemies hats, squares for Warm Up America, and even Project Linus blankets. If you feel moved, please come join us. Just bring #9 16" Circulars, #9 double points, and an open heart. We have donated yarn for you to use, or you might dig through your stash and find some yarn you'd be willing to part with. If you don't have time to join us, think about us the next time you are destashing. We always in need for more yarn and will accept donations of any smooth, soft yarn. We are able to take other types of yarns as well and use them for blankets, and even squares. We have many participants who have the time to knit but not necessarily the finances to help.

Thanks to all who joined us tonight for Knit and Nosh. I Love, love, love this night. Danielle (Not me, Danielle the owner of this fabulous little shop, but, Danielle a friend/customer from Pollock Pines) surprised us with the fabulous news that she'll be expecting a little bundle of joy next year. We are so excited for her. If you missed last night and want to join us next month, it's always the first Friday of the month from 5-9pm. Bring your current project/problem and a dish to share. We'd love it have you join us.

Back to our Regular Scheduled Program

I know the blog has been MIA this summer. It's crazy the amount of work that goes into the shop, my family, and my friends. So the easiest thing to go was the blog, though I LOVE writing it.

There were many times during the summer, that I'd take a mental picture of something and think, "I should blog that". But, the thought stopped right there. We had a fabulous summer, and I am definitely looking forward to Fall knitting.

So here's to onward, upward, and more regular posts.

Big hugs to all of you in the Cyberworld!

We'll be open until 9 or 10 tonight for all those working girls/boys out there. So be sure to stop by for some nibbles, beverages and smoking hot deals.

Art Class

On Saturday morning and afternoon, we met under the Redwoods where Drin and Carol showed us the ins and out of Fine Felting.

The wind was perfect, with a slight breeze, and we all listened carefully as they explained how they got started, and some of their techniques. We pulled apart the cotton candy textured fiber, and enjoyed the wet fun of it all.

I loved working with the roving, deciding where I wanted to put what color. It was a little like fingerpainting with unspun wool.

The class was such a success that we will be having another one, later this summer, September 15, 2007 from 10-1pm. The cost will be $75.00, almost all of the supplies are included, so make sure you call Now to reserve a spot. 916.714.7719
This art form is absolutely perfect for making one of a kind, wearable art for your friends and family. It doesn't take a lot of time, and you will be pleasantly surprised on how fun, exciting, and easy this is.

If you haven't bought your Dad a gift yet, nothing says I love you like a pair of hand knit socks. You can even make them out of a very soft worsted weight, and you can whip out a pair in a week, or even less. Not sure how to knit socks? We've got plenty of sock classes. Toe Up, Top Down, 2 at a time. Wrap up the yarn, needles and pattern, and let him know, he'll get a pair as soon as you are done.
